January
2009 symbolizes the beginning of a new year, but it's also
the Birth Month of Starting Lineup. At the age of 17, Jacob
Themens and Michael Cassidy-Robert wanted to start a band.
They begin as a duo and look for a bassist and a guitarist
during a month. Disheartened, they put the project in standby
mode for a couple of weeks. Later, Jacob finds Benjamin Lachance
while assisting at Cégep en spectacle performance.
It brings him directly to Benjamin's best friend, Etienne
Bertrand, who also accepts to be part of the project. Rapidly,
both duos become an inseparable quartet.
After six months of existence and one official practice per
week: Starting Lineup writes and composes twelve songs that
have been generating Buzz from the Music industry since. On
June 13, 2009, they try to attract people from a bar in Montreal
(L'Absynthe). It's officially their first show ever. On September
5, 2009, Starting Lineup wins the 9th edition of the Café
d'en Face's ''Battle of the Bands''. The ball has been kicked
off the tee and already, with the help of renowned producer
Albert Chambers (Simple Plan, David Usher and many others),
in mid-November; they will release their first five song EP
titled Workout.
